Printmaking
|
The spark that set off my passion for photography was lit back in my schooldays during the early trials of printing in black and white. The wonder of an image suddenly materializing from the tray in the dim red light of the dark room was enough to win me over.
30 years later with the affirmation of digital photography, the demand for developing colour negatives, slides and Cibachrome prints is becoming infrequent. And switching to digital photography, as a consequence, I closed also my chemical darkroom. Today my photographs become time and light resistant pigment prints, on ph neutral Fineprint paper, on Ilford (310g/m²) baritata paper or on German produced HP (300g/m²) opaque photographic paper. Instead of enlarging and developing with all of the environmentally polluting chemicals involved, I now use a large format computer controlled 12 colour printer with ink pigments that are extremely resistant to water and light. All of the photographs are available in print version and are done in pigment on ph neutral Fineprint paper. The realization and the elaboration of the prints is done in my own lab using a color calibrated HP Z3100 large format printer with a 12 colour printing system and ink whose pigments are water and light resistant. The inalterability and the light resistance of pigment prints, when framed and displayed with appropriate lighting are rated for a durability of more than 200 years! On request we can supply passé-partouts suitable for framing, specially prepared in our lab using a Valiani Astra mat cutter . |
